How To - Order Processing

As food items are ordered (via the POS, Handheld, or iOrder), they are displayed instantaneously on the screens in the kitchen after the account has been saved. New orders are accompanied by a 'beep' from the Kitchen iQ kitchen controller.

Each screen displays the orders in oldest ticket order (except orders on 'HOLD' which are displayed at the end of the list).

Each item in an order is displayed with a quantity field, description and then any choices or cooking instructions on following lines.

As an item is prepared and bumped from one station to another, the time box in the top right flashes blue and an asterisk (*) is displayed next to the time to indicate that the status of the order has changed. This highlights to the owner of the next station that a new item needs to be attended to. The length of time the box flashing blue depends on the current order stage of the item and the New Duration time configured.

An order consisting of starters and mains will be displayed on the kitchen screens with the starters and mains displayed on separate order tickets. Each course is identified by a colour panel and an optional course letter, which are configured at head office.

While the starter is prepared and served to the customer, the main course remains on system HOLD.

If a pending active timer is configured for your estate and for the course, a timer is added to the header after the starters are bumped out of the kitchen.

The timer will continue to count until the next course is taken off system HOLD automatically or manually. The course will be taken off system HOLD automatically after any delay configured at head office.

Once the next course is taken off manual or system HOLD the pending active timer disappears and a new timer will start counting up from zero:

The current course is then updated automatically to match the course being prepared in the kitchen. All order lines that are more than 24 hours old are archived automatically and are no longer displayed on the kitchen screens.

If the Cook Times setting is enabled in the Configuration app, individual items within tickets will come off system hold according to their configured cook times, longest cook time first. This allows items within an order with different cook times to be ready for serving at the same time.
